UTSA offers summer camps for all ages, July 11 – 15
(July 11, 2016) -- This week, local youth will explore new programs with top-tier students and faculty members during UTSA’s summer camps. The camps will offer exciting, innovative and intellectually challenging programs for children, high school students and incoming college undergraduates.
All camps are designed to teach or enhance skills to students along with giving them a unique experience on a college campus. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in athletic activities, build robots, explore archaeological techniques, develop musicianship and experience hands-on butterfly education.
Throughout the summer, The University of Texas at San Antonio hosts nearly 100 camps offering interesting and innovative learning opportunities.
This week, UTSA is offering the following camps:
Legacy Archaeology Camp
Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., UTSA Main Campus
The UTSA Center for Archaeological Research's weeklong day camp "Archaeology and Innovations," is open to 9 to 13-year-olds. Campers will participate in indoor and outdoor activities while exploring ancient technologies from around the world and new technologies archaeologists are using now.
Monarch Butterfly Summer Camp
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., UTSA Main Campus
The Monarch Butterfly camp will explore basic concepts in monarch biology, ecology, and conservation. Third through 5th grade students will experience hands-on butterfly education and learn about wildlife conservation. This camp will also cover a different branch of ecology each day.
ITEC Camps
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., UTSA Main Campus
The UTSA Interactive Technology Experience Center camps are for curious youth who are interested in STEM and related topics. This week, campers in kindergarten through 2nd grade will study environmental science. Third through 5th grade campers will focus on microbiology, and robotics and programming. Sixth through 8th grade youth will delve into biomedical engineering.
Tennis Camp
Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., UTSA Tennis Facility
Kids ages 8 to 18 will receive top-tier instruction with tournament-style match play to improve campers’ tennis skill with a plethora of drills and video analysis of every stroke, along with tennis-specific fitness to improve court performance.
Volleyball All Skills Camp
Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., UTSA Main Campus, Convocation Center
UTSA’s All Skills Volleyball Camp focuses on the individual development of each player with an emphasis on teaching the specific skills and movements associated with the game. Serving, passing, setting, attacking and individual defense will be covered. In addition, team concepts will be emphasized, culminating in an end-of-camp tournament. This camp is designed for players entering 7th grade and older.
Little Runners Volleyball Camp
Monday to Tuesday, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., UTSA Main Campus, Convocation Center
Little Runners is designed for the young player wanting to learn and enhance their volleyball skills. Lighter balls, lower nets and modified scoring will be used to not only accelerate learning but to provide a safe, fun and positive learning environment. This camp is designed for players entering 4th, 5th and 6th graders.
High School Summer Band Institute
Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., UTSA Main Campus
The UTSA High School Summer Band Institute offers a comprehensive music experience focused on developing the musician. At this one-week intensive camp, campers will perform with a concert band and attend daily classes that include rehearsals, music theory, sectional and master classes, and an elective class. This camp provides an opportunity for students to receive exceptional instruction on the instrument that they love and to broaden their learnings of many musical components.

Stop by our Denim Day display to take a photo in front of our Denim Wall, spin the "Is It Consent?" Wheel, and get a Concha or goodie.
