International students learn about UTSA life during Orientation
(August 16, 2016) -- More than 200 students from 46 different countries are attending various orientation sessions at The University of Texas at San Antonio Main Campus to learn about life as a Roadrunner.
The Office of International Student Services is working with the Office of Orientation and Family Programs to deliver Orientation programming designed to prepare new international students for life at UTSA.
“This is our first year to partner with the Office of Orientation and Family Programs and put on a three-day Orientation event for our international students of this kind. We couldn’t be more excited,” said Courtney Balderas-Jacobs, assistant director of UTSA International Student Services.
The Orientation going on through Wednesday includes several activities to welcome new international undergraduate students to campus. Students will learn how to get involved on campus by attending a resource fair, go on a campus tour and be introduced to UTSA traditions. The Orientation is also a great opportunity for new Roadrunners to get to know top-tier faculty and staff who can help guide them through their new journey at UTSA. New students will take part in team building activities that will help them form a supportive network with one another.
Over the weekend, international graduate students completed registration requirements and learned about how to succeed in top-tier graduate school programs during an Orientation on Main Campus.
The UTSA International Student Services department helps students throughout the year with a variety of group advising sessions, workshops and events.
The Office of Orientation and Family Programs provides students and their parents a comprehensive introduction to UTSA programs, services and helps students with their transition into life on campus.
