Major intersection to be closed this weekend, per TxDOT

Thousands of prospective students, their families expected at UTSA’s fall open house Oct. 15

Intersection of Ximenes Ave and UTSA Blvd. will re-open Monday morning

(October 21, 2016) -- The intersection of Ximenes Avenue and UTSA Boulevard near The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Main Campus will be closed for routine roadwork and construction Oct. 22-23, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced. During this time the intersection will be closed-off to UTSA incoming and outgoing traffic. The intersection will re-open by 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 24. All other entrances to Main Campus will remain open.

The closure is part of the ongoing construction project to widen UTSA Blvd. It will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 and continue around the clock through the weekend. The closure may interfere with some UTSA Homecoming 2016 traffic and parking, and visitors are advised to find alternate routes to Main Campus.

The UTSA community should also be aware that Valero Way at UTSA Boulevard will be closed the weekend of Oct. 28-30. At some point during that weekend to coincide with the construction, the Bauerle Road entrance and exit at UTSA Blvd. will close through the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Contracted police officers will be present to direct traffic as needed and temporarily stop traffic while construction vehicles and workers move from one location to the other.
