Roadrunners show their school pride during UTSA Homecoming 2016

Spirited events encourage alumni to stay connected to the university

(October 19, 2016) -- The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) celebrates its annual Homecoming Week with a slate of exciting events and contests promoting university spirit. The week is capped off with Saturday’s football game versus the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and the crowning of the new Mr. & Ms. UTSA.

Homecoming Week highlights include:

Wednesday, Oct. 19:
Mr. & Ms. UTSA Voting
Make your vote count. Select your choice for Mr. & Ms. UTSA. Voting takes place all day via Rowdylink.

Game Week Wednesday
11 a.m. – 1 p.m., UC Paseo
Show your school spirit with Roadrunner Productions. Meet UTSA student athletes from the football, volleyball, and men’s and women’s soccer teams.

Comedy Night
8:00 p.m., H-E-B UC Ballroom (HUC 1.102)
Nicole Byer, star of MTV’s “Girl Code,” will supply all the laughs for this year’s show. A UTSA student ID is required.

Thursday, Oct. 20:
Golf Cart Decorating Contest
6:30 p.m., H-E-B UC Lawn
The Student Government Association carries on a UTSA tradition by hosting the 2016 Homecoming Golf Cart Decorating Party. Creative decorators will enjoy free music and pizza while decking out their golf carts in blue and orange.

Friday, Oct. 21:
39th Annual BestFest
4 p.m., Convocation Center Lawns and Brackenridge Ave. Lot 1 (BK1)
One of UTSA’s oldest homecoming traditions, BestFest features live music from Billboard chart topper MAGIC!, a carnival, food and drink booths, and the popular Golf Cart Parade. The night is capped off with the Rowdy Rampage Fireworks Spectacular.

UTSA Volleyball vs. Rice
6 p.m. Convocation Center
Take a break from BestFest to cheer on the UTSA volleyball team during this conference match.

Saturday, Oct. 22:
Game Day Activities
3 p.m., Alamodome & Alamodome Lots B and C
Roadrunners, get rowdy at Blue and Orange Madness. Join fellow UTSA fans for music, games, food and Rowdy traditions. Blue and Orange Madness includes the Spirit Walk. On Saturday at 3:45 p.m., fans are invited to line Roadrunner Alley, located between Alamodome lots B and C, to cheer on Roadrunner Football players and coaches and to welcome the cheerleaders, marching band and Rowdy, as they march into the Alamodome.

Homecoming football game
6 p.m., Alamodome
Grab your Come and Take It flag and cheer on your ‘Runners at the Alamodome as they take on the UTEP Miners. Don’t miss the crowning of Mr. & Ms. UTSA during the halftime show.

Sunday, Oct. 23:
Storytelling Luncheon
10 a.m. - 12 p.m., University Center Denman Room (UC 2.01.28)
During this special Homecoming edition of the storytelling series, UTSA alumni are invited to collaborate with current UTSA administration, faculty and students.

UTSA Soccer vs. FIU
3 p.m., Park West Athletics Complex, Main Campus
Homecoming Week wraps up with a conference showdown on the soccer field. UTSA takes on Florida International.
