UTSA to test Giant Voice indoor-outdoor emergency notification system on Aug. 21

(Aug. 20, 2019) -- In preparation for the fall semester, the UTSA Office of Business Continuity and Emergency Management is scheduling a Giant Voice mass notification system (indoor and outdoor) test for the Main and Downtown Campuses on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The testing schedule takes place in two parts:

  • 8 a.m. – 1 p.m., Main Campus
  • 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., Downtown Campus
  • Each building will be tested once; outdoor sirens may be tested a few times for audibility/volume and for inspection
  • Timeframe above may vary depending upon onsite troubleshooting [if necessary]

Each test lasts 35 seconds and no one needs to leave the building during testing.

The Giant Voice tests provide an opportunity for the UTSA community to become familiar with the system while providing time for maintenance of the infrastructure.
