Fiesta Spirit Hits UTSA Fiesta UTSA, the annual student-sponsored event on the Sombrilla, will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, April 20. Participants can enjoy a variety of foods, activities and a visit by Fiesta royalty. Performing will be juggler Don Blythe, the Filipino Americans dancers, Los Gallos mariachis and the Karavan dance troop. Proceeds from this official Fiesta San Antonio event benefit UTSA student organizations. On Tuesday, April 24, the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and the U.S. Army Drill Team will perform in the Sombrilla. At 11 a.m. , the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps will recall the days of the American Revolution as they march in uniforms similar to those worn by Continental Army musicians and play the selections they will perform for the Battle of Flowers Parade and Fiesta Flambeau. At noon, the U. S. Army Drill Team will preview the intricate maneuvers they'll perform during the River Parade. Both events will be held in the Sombrilla. Fiesta Under the Stars, the annual musical fiesta salute by the Division of Music, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28 in the Convocation Center. The event showcases the university's faculty, orchestras, wind ensembles and choirs performing music from "Casablanca," "Gone With the Wind," "Schindler's List," "Beauty and the Beast" and others. General admission is $8, while reserved table seating (which includes food and wine) is $20. For more information or reservations, call 458-4357. The final UTSA event during Fiesta is the Institute of Texan Cultures Bowie Street Blues festival. The event will begin at noon and run through 6 p.m. April 29 on the Institute Back 40. Featured performers include Tiffany and The Gospel Motions, Neil Black and the Healers, Wild Bill Pitre, Lady Pearl Johnson and Johnny Nicholas and the Texas All-Stars. Admission at the gate is $6 for adults and $3 for children 6-12 years.
