Dr. Seuss Required Text for Read Across America Day
March 2 at the Downtown Campus

UTSA's Reading PlaceTri-Campus community families are invited to participate with their young children in the university's observance of Read Across America Day from 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 2 at the Downtown Campus in Buena Vista Street Building Room 1.338.

Local media personalities and elected officials are expected to join UTSA faculty and staff in reading Dr. Seuss stories in English and Spanish to 150 local elementary school students and their parents as part of the national event, celebrated annually on Dr. Seuss' birthday.

Free books and bookmarks will be distributed to children, while parents will receive information about literacy. There will also be a craft room where kids can make their own red-and-white Dr. Seuss hats.

The event is sponsored by the university's America Reads Tutoring Program in conjunction with the San Antonio Commission on Reading. UTSA's America Reads Tutoring Program employs 50 student tutors who regularly work with more than 250 local elementary school youngsters.

The event is free and open to all. For more information, call (210) 458-2769.
