Interior Design Program Receives Accreditation UTSAs interior design program has received accreditation by the Foundation of Interior Design and Research (FIDER). The accreditation comes after the national organization spent the last two years scrutinizing the curriculum and reviewing student work samples. With the accreditation, UTSA becomes the only university in San Antonio to have an accredited interior design program. Diane Hayes, assistant professor of architecture and interior design, says that because of the way the curriculum is structured, the faculty spend about 18 hours a week with the students. "They develop a very good rapport with the students and can help them make connections with alumni that could help them in the future." About 200 faculty, alumni and other professional architects from throughout the state attended recent ceremonies marking the accreditation. Next on the agenda, the School of Architecture looks to receive its accreditation in September. Send
