ITC Celebrates Japanese Girl's Day
Observed in Japan on the third day of the third month of the year, Girl's Day has many interpretations, but is best known as an event during which a family prays for the happiness and health of its daughters. The custom of setting up a family of dolls inside the house on this day, which are then passed down through the generations, dates to Imperial Japan. The afternoon will feature performances by the Matsuri Dance Group and hands-on activity demonstrations. The Japanese Doll Exhibit will be on display through March 25. All activities are free with admission to the institute. For more information, call 458-2300. Send
