La Despedida Honors Hispanic Graduates, Family, Friends
It was standing room only in the Buena Vista Street Building Theater last Saturday when Hispanic members of the UTSA Class of 2001, their families and friends gathered with faculty at the Downtown Campus following commencement activities at 1604 for the traditional La Despedida, a farewell to the university's Hispanic graduates.
The event recognizes the support of family and community in the attainment of college degrees by Hispanic students. This year's celebration, which was arranged by the 2001 La Despdida Organizing Committee, drew nearly 400 guests.
