UTSA Student Chapter of The Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists Award Scholarships
Over $4000 dollars in scholarships were awarded at a recent banquet held by the UTSA Student Chapter of The Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists.
The scholarships are the dreamwork of Ricardo Ramirez, President of The Society
of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists 98-01. His dream was for the
student organization to someday host a banquet and award scholarships.
Ramirez is the reason for the Annual Engineering and Science Extravaganza which has grown every year. The 1st Extravaganza consisted of 300 PREP students and 12 presenters. The 2nd Extravaganza had 800 students and 34 presenters. This year, the Extravaganza on Friday, June 15th will consist of an estimated 1100 PREP participants and a new professional track of 250.
For the event the National MAES Board of Directors and the their Advisory Council will attend. Over 34 national companies will attend. MAES will also be hosting its 1st Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, June 14 at the Golf Course of Texas.

Crystal Flores-Computer Science, $1,000 Advisors Scholarship
Claudio Garza-Mechanical Engineering, $500 scholarship
Fernando Lizcano-Mechanical Engineering, $500 scholarship
Gabriel Perez-Mechanical Engineering, $500 scholarship
Vivian Troche-Computer Science, $500 scholarship
New member scholarship: Matthew Garcia -Mechanical Engineering, $500.00 scholarship
