May 8 Reception Will Commemorate Graduate Scholarship

UTSA will host a reception announcing creation of a scholarship honoring San Antonio printer Ruben Munguia from 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 8 at the Downtown Campus on the Third Floor Terrace of the Frio Street Building. The scholarship will benefit graduate students in political science and public administration.

The Ruben Munguia Graduate Scholarship was created through the efforts of Bert Cecconi, a local dentist, and UTSA's Metropolitan Research and Policy Institute in recognition of Munguia's many civic contributions. Munguia, a West side printer, is well known for the political advice he has given career and would-be political leaders.

Cecconi also commissioned UTSA alumnus and renowned artist Jesse Trevino to paint Munguia's portrait. During the reception, Cecconi will present the painting, entitled "The Printer," to the university.

Ricardo and Harriett Romo and Henry Cisneros, Munguia's nephew, will co-host the reception. Members of the Tri-Campus community are invited.
