Cable president to speak at Frost Bank lecture series Nov. 14

(Nov. 7, 2001)--Navarra Williams, president of Time Warner Cable, will present the keynote address during the Frost Bank Distinguished Lecture Series at 11 a.m. Nov. 14 in the Business Building Auditorium (2.01.02). The event is sponsored by the University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business and is free and open to the public.

At the helm since 1991, Navarra Williams has added $350 million in value to the San Antonio division of Time Warner. He has led his company into the technology arena by launching telephone service, digital service and high-speed Internet service. Time Warner Cable San Antonio is among the 20 largest cable systems in the United States.

Throughout his career, Williams has held leadership positions and operated companies in three of the top 10 television markets in the United States. Past posts have included Orange County, California; Philadelphia; and Warren, New Jersey.
He is a board member of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, the Texas Cable and Telecommunications Association and a past chairman of the Campaign for the Carver Complex. Other professional affiliations include the Cable Television Administration and Marketing Society, the National Association of Minorities in Cable and the Alamo City Chamber of Commerce.

Williams received an associate's degree in business administration from Bay College of Maryland, a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Baltimore and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Indianapolis.

The Frost Bank Distinguished Lecture Series brings prominent business and community leaders to UTSA to share their knowledge and experiences with students and others in the university and business community. The lecture series, which began in 1988, presents an opportunity to broaden our understanding of the business world and the individuals who lead it.
