UTSA campuses show Halloween spirit, celebrate Dia de los Muertos

(Nov. 1, 2001)--Ghosts and goblins invaded the 1604 and Downtown Campuses on Halloween, and some won prizes for the entries in a pumpkins carving contest at the Downtown Campus.

Additionally, altars in observance of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) were set up in several locations.

Below are pictures of some of the activities on Oct. 31 at the 1604 and Downtown Campuses.

Pumpkin Boy, King Pumpkinamen and Mardi Gras were entries in the Downtown Campus halloween pumpkin decorating contest.

President Romo visited with costumed Human Resources employees at the 1604 Campus, while others at the University Center dressed for the occasion (center). At right, Downtown Campus academic advisers showed off their costumes.

Catholic Student Association, Bilingual Education Student Organization and the Student Leadership and Cultural Programs office had Dia De Los Muertos altars on display in the University Center at the 1604 Campus.
