First recipients of Luna scholarship to be announced Nov. 16

(Nov. 14, 2001)--Members of the Tri-Campus community are invited to join family, friends and former colleagues of the late Sen. Gregory Luna at a reception at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16 in the Durango Building Southwest Room at the Downtown Campus.

During the event, the inaugural recipients of the Sen. Gregory Luna Memorial Endowed Scholarship will be introduced. Those who have donated to the scholarship fund have also been invited to attend.

The scholarship fund was begun shortly after Luna's death in November 1999 and was endowed on Nov. 17 of last year on what would have been the senator's 68th birthday. A portion of the fund has been earmarked for graduates of Lanier High School, Luna's alma mater. Both inaugural recepients attended Lanier.

For more information about the Luna scholarship, contact the UTSA Development Office, (210) 458-4130.
