Graduate research colloquium to be conducted Nov. 29

(Nov. 27, 2001)--The UTSA Department of English, Classics and Philosophy will conduct its first Graduate Student Research Colloquium from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 in the John Peace Library Building Assembly Room (4.03.02). Master's candidates will discuss papers they presented at other educational institutions.

Debbie Lopez, associate professor English, and Billy Weitzel, assistant professor of English, will moderate the forum.

"Many graduate students will want to learn about research that our students have presented," said Lopez. "This is our first effort at this type of event, and I think it's very important."

"A number of our master's students have gone on to other institutions to earn their doctorates, but we are close to getting approval of our doctoral program and many will want to know more about the research process," she added. "They will be able to get some of that information at the forum."

The colloquium is free and open to the public. For more information contact Debbie Lopez at (210) 458-5973.
