Rally and Spirit Day tip off UTSA men's basketball season

(Nov. 26, 2001)--The men's home basketball season tips off at 2 p.m., Saturday when the Roadrunners host Illinois State in the Convocation Center. Festivities begin Thursday with a Rowdy Rally from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the University Center Roost on the 1604 Campus. Faculty, staff and students are all invited to enjoy free food, a 3-point shooting contest, music, cheerleaders, dance team and more.

The fun continues Friday. UTSA President Ricardo Romo has declared it Spirit Day. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to show their Roadrunner pride by wearing Blue and Orange.

If you need to freshen up your Roadrunner wardrobe, Blue Crew t-shirts are available at the Roost for $10. Additionally, Orange Crush T-shirts are available for $7 at the 1604 and Downtown campus bookstores and the Institute of Texan Cultures gift shop.

You won't want to miss the action. Here's why:

Poster Night -- The first 1,000 fans who attend the game will receive a complimentary 2001-2002 UTSA basketball poster sponsored by Dodge.

Pre-game Music and Halftime Recognition Ceremonies -- The College of Liberal and Fine Arts will conduct the festivities.

Community College Night -- Community College students will be able to purchase general admission tickets for $1 with a student identification card.

Free Admission for Police/Fire Fighters -- All police, fire fighters and their families will be honored in pre-game ceremonies and will be admitted free with presentation of badge.
