New teacher certification programs approved

(Oct. 30, 2001)--The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has announced formal approval of four new programs in the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) for the degree in interdisciplinary studies.

They are early childhood - grade 4 generalist; early childhood - grade 4 bilingual generalist; grades 4-8 generalist; and grades 4-8 bilingual generalist.

These programs were developed by COEHD faculty in response to changes in the structure of teacher certification in the state. UTSA will begin phasing the programs in during the spring 2002 semester.
