Archaeology Fair 2000
Prospective archaeologists at last year's South Texas
Archaeology Fair learn how to clean ancient artifacts.

Center for Archaeological Research holds South Texas Archaeology Fair

(Oct. 12, 2001)--The UTSA Center for Archaeological Research will sponsor the 3rd Annual UTSA South Texas Archaeology Fair from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 13 at the Center for Archaeological Research on the 1604 Campus. The fair, part of Texas Archaeology Month, is free and open to the public.

With public interest in archaeology at an all time high, many are unaware that much archaeological work is done right here in South Texas. The fair is a great opportunity for the entire family to learn about archaeology from local archaeologists and to participate in many hands-on activities.

Activities will include a mock dig with artifact cleaning and cataloguing, laboratory tours, living history demonstrations and storytelling, children’s arts and crafts, exhibits and speakers on archaeological methods and sites, ancient spear throwing demonstrations and food concessions.

For more information contact Donna Edmondson, fair coordinator, at (210) 458-4462 or dedmondson@utsa.edu. Visit the Center for Archaeological Research Web site at http://car.utsa.edu/fair.htm.
