ITC and San Antonio Dance Umbrella will present Nov. 10 event

(October 26, 2001)--See dance come alive through the diverse rhythms and music of different cultures as the Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) in conjunction with San Antonio Dance Umbrella presents "Dance Around the World" from 9:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m., Saturday Nov. 10 on the ITC exhibit floor.

The entire family can enjoy a day filled with performances by a variety of San Antonio ethnic dance groups and celebrate dance as a vital and growing art form reflecting the rich cultural diversity of the community.

Visitors can participate in a variety of programming such as presentations on native costumes; demonstrations of musical instruments, rhythm and movement activities; and opportunities to learn the dances of the various performance groups. Dance groups will represent a variety of cultures including Japanese, Polish, Hawaiian, Philippine, Mexican, Irish, Chinese and Indian.

Special event parking is $5. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

ITC, of the three campuses of the University of Texas at San Antonio, is an educational center concerned with the history and diverse cultures of Texas. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children (3-12), $3 for seniors (65+) and military with ID, and free for children 2 and under.
