UTSA Halloween events include fundraiser and pumpkin decorating contest

(October 25, 2001)--Blair Fest, an annual UTSA fundraiser for registered organizations will be held from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 on the Sombrilla at the 1604 Campus. And entries for a pumpkin decorating contest at the Downtown Campus are being accepted until 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29.

Blair Fest, formerly known as Best Fest, borrows its theme from the "mockumentary" blockbuster film "The Blair Witch Project." UTSA's annual Halloween fundraiser by and for registered student organizations will feature food booths and entertainment. Proceeds from food booth sales will go to student organizations. Entertainment will include DJ J. Tope, dance presentations, a game show and a lip-sync contest. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call Student Life Activities at 458-4160.

Halloween Pumpkin Decorating Contest entrees can be submitted to C.J. Lee in Student Activities at the Downtown Campus Durango Building Room 1.302 until 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29. The rule is not to carve your pumpkin--DECORATE IT with stickers, costumes or items you can paint or glue on a pumpkin.

Pumpkin judging will take place from 8 a.m.-noon Wednesday Oct. 31 in the Durango Building Student Center. First, second and third place winners will be announced at noon. (Word is out that the prizes are good ones.) Congratulate the winners and enjoy refreshments from noon-1 p.m. at the Student Center. For more information call 458-2816.
