(Sept. 7, 2001)--Drawings by University of Texas at San Antonio art professor
Ken Little are part of an exhibit at the Satellite Space in the Blue
Star Arts Complex. The exhibit, which runs through Sept. 30, features works
by Little and two other local artists that were completed during their participation
in the Border Exchange program, a six-week cultural tour of the borders of
Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.
The exhibit also features photographs by Chuck Ramirez and sculptures
by Roland Rodriguez. The three accomplished local artists were chosen
for the program because their art reflects various aspects of the Mexican,
Mexican-American and Anglo cultures in South Texas. Works by the three American
artists premiered in Goerlitz, Germany.
The program was designed to investigate the similarities and differences of
artistic perceptions between two border regions, as well as providing an artistic
and academic exchange between artists in Europe and San Antonio.
As part of the Border Exchange program, European artists came to San Antonio
last year to produce art works about Mexican border culture, filtered through
European impression.
Admission to the exhibit is free, and open to the public. UTSA Satellite Space
hours are Friday-Sunday, 12-6 p.m. The Satellite Space is located at 115 Blue
Star in the Blue Star Arts Complex on South Alamo Street at Probandt. For
more information, call (210) 212-7146.
