CIA seeks UTSA students for technical internships
(Sept. 6, 2001)--The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) returns to UTSA this fall for the third consecutive year to recruit electrical engineering and computer science undergraduates to work at their headquarters in northern Virginia during summer 2002.
As a collaborative effort among the career services office and academic departments, the CIA plans to offer twelve UTSA undergraduate students a special opportunity to enhance their technical skills and gain practical work experience.
The CIA initiated and conducted this special recruitment campaign three years ago and, pleased with the quality of UTSA students, is returning to recruit 12 more students for the technical internships. The specialized recruitment campaign gives qualified UTSA students a competitive edge in the selection process because they will compete only amongst themselves for 12 internship slots held specifically for them. In most instances applicants from other colleges and universities must compete with a national candidate pool.
UTSA students who are chosen for this internship will be housed together
as a team, and will have the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art technical
projects related to their career field from mid-May to August 2002. In addition
to the opportunity to develop practical technical experience, other benefits
include a competitive salary, housing assistance, employee benefits and free
travel.
The deadline to apply is September 24, 2001. Interviews will be held at the
Career Services office on the UTSA 1604 Campus, September 25-26. Interested
students must have submitted application materials by the September 24 deadline
to be considered for an interview on September 25 or 26. CIA representatives
will also be recruiting for technical full-time opportunities at the Fall
Career Fair presented by Career Services on September 27.
