Latino Heritage Week events to be held Sept. 14-21 at UTSA

(Sept. 10, 2001)--Latino Heritage Week events will be held Sept. 14-21 at the 1604 and Downtown Campuses. Events include the "Diez y Seis" parade on Saturday, a performance by "Acoustic Dream" Latin jazz band Sept. 17 on the Sombrilla at the 1604 Campus, "Mi Familia, Mi Cultura" family photo display at the Downtown Campus Sept. 17-19, and the "Latino Cultural Expressions Through Art" exhibit in the Frio Street Building Multipurpose Room at the Downtown Campus Sept. 18-19.

Latino Heritage Week Events, Downtown Campus

Friday, September 14
10 a.m.-5 p.m.-- Veterans Display, Commons Area, Frio Street Building, sponsored by Bilingual Education Student Association (BESO).

Saturday, September 15
10 a.m. -- "Diez y Seis" parade, corner of Guadalupe & Brazos.

Monday, September 17
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. -- KXTN Tejano 107.5 Kick-off Celebration, Bill Miller Plaza
12:30-1:30 p.m. -- "Café Latino," loteria (Mexican bingo) and Mexican coffee and desserts from Espuma Coffee and Tea Emporium, Commons Area, Frio Street Building.

Monday-Wednesday, September 17-19
12-5 p.m. -- "Mi Familia, Mi Cultura" family photo display, Commons Area, Frio Street Building.

Tuesday, September 18
10 a.m.-8 p.m. -- "Latino Cultural Expressions Through Art" art exhibit, Frio Street Building Multipurpose Room1.402.
12-1 p.m. -- Meet and Greet the Artists -- Luis Guerrero, Ben Mata, Luis Valderas, Vincent Valdez, Mujer Artes, Cruz Ortiz, Frio Street Building Room 1.402.

Wednesday, September 19
10 a.m.-8 p.m. -- "Latino Cultural Expressions Through Art" art exhibit, Frio Street Building Multipurpose Room1.402.
11:30 - 1:30 p.m. -- Lowrider Car Show with 98.5 FM The Beat live, Bill Miller Plaza.

Thursday, September 20
All events at Durango Building Student Center, 1st floor, sponsored by CAB:
1-3 p.m. -- Refreshments: Fruit Cups and Aguas Frescas
1- 2 p.m. -- Ballet Folklorico
2-3 p.m. -- Mariachi Festival

Friday, September 21
