Nine new faculty members join the College of Business

(Sept. 5, 2001)--Nine new tenured or tenure-track faculty members have joined the College of Business this fall. "We are pleased to have been able to add such high quality faculty to our team," said Dean Bruce Bublitz. "This is one of the largest pools of new talent that the college has ever hired."

Two taxation specialists have been added to the Department of Accounting roster. Richard Hatfield, assistant professor of accounting, previously taught at Drexel University. He received his doctorate in accounting from the University of Florida and his master's in taxation and bachelor's in business administration degrees from Texas A&M University.

Pamela Smith, assistant professor of accounting, received her doctorate in accounting and master's in accountancy from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Prior to entering her doctoral program, Pamela was a senior tax accountant with Arthur Andersen, LLP, in Washington, DC for five years.

Clyde Stoltenburg will serve as the director of East Asian Studies and professor of business law in the Department of Economics. Stoltenburg previously served as professor of business law and co-director of the Center for International Business at the University of Kansas. He received his master's in international affairs from Columbia and a doctorate of jurisprudence degree from Harvard Law School.

Don Lien, professor of economics and finance, will hold a joint appointment in both those departments. Lien served as professor of economics at the University of Kansas. He received his doctorate from the California Institute of Technology. He has supervised many doctoral theses and is recognized for his outstanding teaching and research record.

Three information systems faculty members have been hired. Tim Goles, assistant professor of information systems, received a doctorate in the management of information systems and a master's of business administration degree from the University of Houston. He received a bachelor's in business administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

Sang Jun Lee, assistant professor of information systems, received his doctorate and master's in the management of information systems from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He received his bachelor's degree in computer science from HUFS in Seoul, Korea.

Greg White, associate professor of information systems, received his doctorate in computer science from Texas A&M and a master of science in computer engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. He previously served as vice president at SecureLogix Corporation in San Antonio.

Cynthia Lengnick-Hall, professor of management, and Mark Lengnick-Hall, professor of management, are new members of the Management Department. The Lengnick-Halls previously were professors at the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University.

Cynthia received her doctorate in management policy and strategy from the University of Texas at Austin, a master's of business administration and a bachelor's in psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Mark received his doctorate in organizational behavior and human resource management from Purdue University and his master's in business administration and bachelor's in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
