Meetings address concerns, offer support, propose solutions after last week's events
(Sept. 20, 2001)--The third and fourth in a series of teach-in panel discussions will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Downtown and 1604 Campuses. Discussion will center on the tragic events of Sept. 11 and how the country can better deal with the issues surrounding the events.

Thursday, Sept. 26, 4-5:30 p.m., Durango Student Center, Downtown Campus:
Panelists, department, topics:
Brian Davies, (history), historical perspectives on Islam
Jeff Halley (sociology),five theses on terrorism: problems of the concept,
the social context, relative autonomy, states fighting non-state entities,
the politics of the imagery of war
Ben Johnson (history), domestic repression in times of crisis
Earle Reybold (adult and higher education), a personal perspective on Muslim
women of Malaysia
Laura Mitchell (history), moderator
Thursday, Sept. 27, 2-3:45 p.m., University Center Retama Auditorium,

Screening of a film about Islam, followed by questions and conversation moderated

Amy Jasperson (olitical science), moderator
