Film showing, discussions related to national crisis set for Thursday
(Sept. 25, 2001)--The third and fourth in a series of teach-in discussion sessions will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Downtown and 1604 Campuses. Discussion will center on the issues surrounding the tragic events of Sept. 11 and how the country can address the situation. The discussion sessions are open to the entire UTSA community. Faculty are encouraged to announce the teach-ins in their classes.
Following are the details for each event:
Thursday, Sept. 27, 2-3:45 p.m., University Center Retama Auditorium,
1604 Campus:
--Screening of a film about Islam, followed by questions and conversation
moderated by Amy Jasperson (political science)
Thursday, Sept. 27, 5:30 p.m., Business Building Auditorium (2.01.02), 1604 Campus:
--Panel discussion: "Organizational Leadership in a Time of Crisis," speakers include Gen. Robert F. McDermott (chairman emeritus of USAA), Jeff Farver (presient and CEO of San Antonio Federal Credit Union and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff (former mayor of San Antonio). The speakers will share personal experiences on responding to crisis situations and ideas on nurturing men and women who can lead San Antonio and the nation in the 21st century.
