Institute of Texan Cultures is seeking outreach volunteers
(Sept. 25, 2001)--Are you interested in exploring the past? Do you like meeting people from all over the world? Would you enjoy sharing the story of the Lone Star State with others? If you answered yes, the Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) needs you! The Volunteer Division at ITC is looking for people of all ages who would like to be outreach volunteers. Applications are being accepted through Monday, Oct. 1.
Outreach volunters are needed to go to schools and visit community groups. Volunteers are also needed for the Back 40 outdoor interpretive area, puppet theater and ITC gift shop. Applicants must speak English, and bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, German or French, are a plus. Training for new volunteers includes classroom sessions at the Institute from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning Wednesday, Oct. 3. On-the-job training will follow the formal classes.
Those completing the training course become members of the Alliance, the organization for ITC volunteers. Alliance members receive invitations to special ITC events and exhibit openings, discounts at the ITC gift shop and free parking during regular business hours.

The Institute of Texan Cultures, one of the Tri-Campuses of UTSA, is an educational center focusing on the history and diverse cultures of Texas.
