Graduates representing six different colleges received their degrees during three individual ceremonies
on Dec. 15 in the UTSA Convocation Center. The exercise included the first graduating class from
the College of Public Policy.

UTSA awards diplomas to nearly 2,100 including 50,000th graduate

(Dec. 15, 2001)—Nearly 2,100 students participated in commencement exercises Dec. 15 at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Students from the College of Engineering and the College of Liberal and Fine Arts received diplomas during the first of three ceremonies held in the Convocation Center on the 1604 Campus. State Sen. Leticia Van de Putte was the keynote speaker.

Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff spoke during mid-day ceremonies for the College of Education and Human Development and the College of Sciences.

UTSA Alumni Association Vice President James Mickey addressed participants in the final ceremonies for the College of Business and the College of Public Policy.

Corisanda Holtz, a communication major and Roosevelt High School graduate, was the 50,000th graduate from UTSA and received a lifetime membership and a collection of items from the UTSA Alumni Association.
