Reminder: Employee Benefits Annual Enrollment Ends July 31
The Human Resources department reminds UTSA employees that annual open enrollment for insurance and health benefits ends on Tuesday, July 31.
Employees can view their current benefits coverage online at UT Touch Online. A new personal identification number (PIN) and an Annual Enrollment benefits information packet were mailed to the home address of each employee/retiree at the end of June. From July 1-31, employees/retirees should use their new PIN to make changes to their current insurance coverage. Humana Healthcare HMO and Texas Universities Health Plan (TUHP) HMO are the new plans for UTSA employees. New insurance plans will be effective September 1, 2001.
If a UTSA employee does not make any changes during the annual enrollment period July 1-31, current coverage will remain the same effective September 1 with the following exceptions:
- Medical coverage will automatically default to the new UT Select Plan.
- If you are participating in the UT Flex Plan (Health Care Spending Account or Dependent Care Spending Account) and if you want to continue to participate in this plan, you are required to re-enroll.
Effective September 1, Prudential HMO, United Healthcare POS and TUHP POS will no longer be offered. The design of the new UT Select has been simplified and the claims and service administrator will change from CIGNA Healthcare PPO to Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas (Blue Choice).
Prescription plans for the new fiscal year include a continuing plan from Merck-Medco with benefits and co-payments remaining the same. Advance/PCS will administer the prescription plan for Humana. Delta Dental plan benefits will remain the same, but there will be an 8 percent rate increase.
Currently, employees and retirees who declared themselves as smokers and were enrolled in a UT self-funded medical or dental plan were assessed a $10-per-month smoker fee. The smoker fee will no longer be assessed in the new fiscal year.
There will be no rate change for the life insurance plan for employee and retiree coverage, however, plan benefits may be enhanced. Employees should check their benefits packet for details.
Benefits and rate changes will remain the same for the following plans:
- UT Flex
- United Dental
- Superior Vision
- Long Term Disability
- Personal Accident Insurance
