President Romo To Host Reception for Chisholm Evacuation Team
(July 31, 2001) All staff, faculty and students who assisted residents evacuated from Chisholm Hall last May are invited to a thank-you reception hosted by UTSA President Ricardo Romo at 3:30 p.m, Aug. 7, on the 1604 Campus in the John Peace Library Building Regents Room.
"As a result of extraordinary teamwork demonstrated by members of the university community, we were able to vacate the residence hall and find temporary housing for nearly 500 students displaced by the evacuation, and assist students and their families in retrieving their personal belongings," Romo said.
"I want to thank everyone for helping students that evening and throughout the summer. Members of the three campuses again proved that cooperation and dedication to our students are hallmarks of our community," added Romo.
Department supervisors are encouraged to adjust schedules to permit staff members who assisted with the Chisholm Hall evacuation or any part of the subsequent efforts to assist residents to attend the Aug. 7 reception.
Chisholm Hall's 486 residents were evacuated May 3 following an environmental inspection of the building that revealed traces of a variety of molds that may pose health concerns to residents.
