President Ricardo Romo and ITC Executive Director Rex Ball welcomed the group. Harriett Romo spoke about Tibetans in Texas and the significance of bringing this exhibit to San Antonio, the state's only venue for this collection of more than 100 ancient, sacred and contemporary Tibetan works.

Robert Washington represented the Ewing Halsell Foundation, which is sponsoring the exhibit's San Antonio showing. Among the guests were Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, San Antonio Express-News columnist Susan Yerkes, State Rep. Jose Menendez, docents for the ITC, UTSA supporters and Development Board members from UTSA and the ITC.
