Gaertner
Named President of Sam Houston State University
Former dean of the College of Business James F. Gaertner has been appointed
president of Sam Houston State University. Gaertner was chosen from a field
of over 80 highly-qualified applicants from across the country.
Gaertner is returning to his alma mater, where he received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration. Sam Houston State University was founded in 1879 in Huntsville and has 12,500 students.
For trivia buffs, Gaertner continues the tradition of College of Business deans becoming university presidents. Now, all three past deans including Louis J. Rodriguez and E.D. "Doug" Hodo have been named university presidents.
