UTSA Ties For First Place In Southland Conference's Men's All-Sports Competition

The University of Texas at San Antonio tied with UT-Arlington to share the Southland Conference's Men's All-SportsTrophy. Both teams finished with 76 overall points in the seven sports they both compete in. UTSA men took first place in tennis and outdoor track and field. The men finished second in indoor track and field and basketball.

UTSA women finished third in All-Sports competition, behind Southwest Texas, who captured the trophy with 93 overall points.

The trophy is awarded on a point system ranging on a scale of 22 points for the top finisher, down to 2 points for the 11th place finisher in basketball and baseball. A similar system is used ranging from 11 points to 1 in, indoor track, outdoor track, football, cross country, golf, and tennis.

In Women's sports, basketball, softball and volleyball are counted as double-point sports with a 2-22 point system. The 1-11 scale values are assigned to indoor track, outdoor track, soccer, cross country, and tennis.

Both UTSA Men's and Women's teams finished fairly balanced in overall points with 76 and 77 points, for a 153 total. UT-Arlington captured the Southland Conference's Commissioner's Cup with 160 points overall combined between their men's and women's teams.
