Staff Excellence Awards nominations deadline extended to Thursday
(Sept. 18, 2001)--The deadline for nominations for the UTSA Staff Excellence Awards has been extended to Thursday, September 20 at 5 p.m.
"It is important that we honor individuals at UTSA who go the extra mile in their jobs to help students attain a university degree," said UTSA President Ricardo Romo. "Our university community is fortunate to be filled with staff members who are committed to their jobs to support and advance higher education."
"I have been impressed with the outstanding, dedicated staff at UTSA, and am pleased to be able to recognize their contributions to this university," added Romo. "I encourage each of you to nominate those staff members whom you believe are deserving of this honor."
UTSA President Ricardo Romo announced Aug. 31 the new Staff Excellence Awards Program. The announcement followed the recommendations of a committee appointed last year to evaluate how best to honor individuals and groups who go above and beyond the call of duty while working at the university.
The goal of the awards program is to honor outstanding UTSA staff members across the Tri-Campuses who have demonstrated excellent work performance. Thirteen UTSA staff members have been asked to serve on the selection committee. Staff who are chosen for the awards will be recognized for their service at a ceremony October 23, 2001, 3:30 p.m., in the University Center Laurel Room. An award of $1,000 will accompany each excellence award.
Due to the 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20 deadline, nomination materials must be taken to the Office of the President, on the fourth floor of the John Peace Library Building. Address the materials to the attention of Tomas Larralde.

This award seeks to promote and encourage a commitment to UTSA and its goals at all levels.
