Bennie Wilson
Assistant dean appointed to San Antonio Commission on Literacy
(April 22, 2002)--Bennie Wilson, assistant dean of the College of Business, has been appointed by the San Antonio City Council to serve on the 11-member San Antonio Commission on Literacy. The commission's function is to expand public awareness of the dimensions of the urban literacy problem, to develop a coalition of service providers for adult education and to facilitate school dropout prevention and youth literacy efforts. Wilson's term expires in September 2003.

(April 22, 2002)--The Office of International Programs has launched a new Web site.

Youth and human services minor to have name-change
(April 22, 2002)--Pending final approval from the UT System, UTSA's minor program in youth and human services will be called non-profit management, effective with the fall 2002 term.
In the course schedule, classes for the minor will be listed under non-profit management and will begin with the abbreviation "NPO," rather than "YHS."

Scholarship available to assist students with childcare costs
(April 22, 2002)--UTSA students who meet eligibility requirements are invited to apply for a Kimmelman Child Care Scholarship, offered through the Temple Beth-El Permanent Charities Foundation and United Way.
The scholarships assist eligible families with child-care expenses. Applications are available at the 1604 Campus in University Center Room 1.01.02 and at the Downtown Campus in Durango Building Room 2.114.

Human resources now under supervision of vice president for administration
(April 22, 2002)--President Ricardo Romo announces that oversight of operations for the university's office of human resources management and development is being transferred from the vice president for business affairs to the vice president for administration. The transfer, effective immediately, is part of a major restructuring effort for UTSA's human resources management and development office.
Jerry Barloco, vice president for administration, will assume all
responsibility for recruiting candidates for the position of associate vice
president for human resources.
