U.S. Department of State official to discuss human rights issues

(April 8, 2002)--The UTSA College of Liberal and Fine Arts and the Council for International Programs will sponsor a lecture by Chris Sibilla, deputy director of the U.S. Department of State Office for the Promotion of Human Rights and Democracy, who will speak on "Human Rights and Democracy After 9/11" at 2 p.m. April 11 in University Center Mesquite Room (2.01.24) on the 1604 Campus.

Sibilla's experience includes working on human rights issues in the U.S. embassy in Moscow, the State Department Armenian- and Havana-interest sections and in the U.S. embassy in Costa Rica.

Sibilla will also discuss careers in the foreign service.
