Tech-Connect's "Inspiration Fiesta" to help organize your thoughts
(April 24, 2002)--Having trouble organizing yourself to write reports or term papers? UTSA Tech-Connect is hosting "Inspiration Fiesta" from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, April 25 at the Sombrilla on the 1604 Campus. The event is to highlight the "Inspiration" software package that is designed to help organize your thoughts.
The Tech-Connect team will give away T-shirts and demonstration copies of software. There will also be door prize drawings for full versions of "Inspiration" and the children-targeted "Kidspiration" software. The Tech-Connect team will demonstrate the two software packages designed to help adults or young writers.
The event is free and open to the Tri-Campus community. For more information, contact Tech-Connect at (210) 458-2084 (Downtown Campus), (210) 458-4034 (1604 Campus) or techconnect@utsa.edu.

What is Tech-Connect?Tech-Connect is a project funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant, Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology (PT3). The project is dedicated to integrating technology into teaching and learning in the UTSA College of Education and Human Development (COEHD). The primary focus is teacher education, but the goal is to support all faculty use of technology.
Tech-Connect services include one-on-one assistance with technology integration into class planning and classroom activites, Web page construction, distance learning support, mentoring, small group software training and new technology demonstrations. The services do not duplicate resources already available for software training or help desk assistance.
Tech-Connect is using a collaborative approach to bring systemic change to the way teachers are trained. The project is housed in the Professional Development Network (PDN) in the COEHD. PDN, a professional development program to improve the quality of South Texas teachers, supports collaboration between K-16 institutions and UTSA faculty and provides teachers, faculty, policy makers, business partners and community members concerned about education a mechanism to connect with peers, experts and resources.
The Tech-Connect Consortium represents the combined resources of UTSA, corporate
and nonprofit educational institutions, and three local school districts and
plans to target over three hundred P-8 pre-service teachers, 150 field-based
supervisors, and 150 UTSA COEHD faculty members. To assure ongoing improvement,
Tech-Connect project activities at the end of the grant period will become
part of PDN.
