Institute of Texan Cultures invites you to make a difference
(August 29, 2002)--Make a difference! The Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) Volunteer Program wants men and women of all ages who enjoy learning and sharing the history of Texas to join its team. Applications will be accepted through Sept.16, 2002 and inquiries can be made at (210) 458-2279 or by e-mail.
Volunteers are needed to help with Outreach, Back 40 activities, Puppet Theater and as front door greeters. ITC volunteers receive invitations to exhibit openings and free admission to exhibits, events and while on duty at the Texas Folklife Festival. They also enjoy discounts in the ITC Store and free parking at the Institute while volunteering.
Individuals should be willing to give at least three hours of service per week and must speak English. Bilingual skills, especially Spanish, German and French, are welcome. Fall training will be from 9 a.m.-noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday beginning Sept. 23.
ITC, one of the three campuses of the University of Texas at San Antonio, is an educational center concerned with the history and diverse cultures of Texas. Open Tuesday-Sunday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., ITC is located in downtown San Antonio. Admission is $5 for adults; $2 for children (3-12); $3 for seniors (65+) and military (with I.D.); and free for children 2 and under and UTSA students and staff with a UTSACard.
