Madrigal Dinner 'Home for the Holidays: Christmas 1945' opens Dec. 7
(Dec. 4, 2002)--The UTSA Department of Music jumps back in time to post-World War II America with this year's Madrigal Dinner production. John Silantien's and Todd James' "Home for the Holidays: Christmas 1945" will be presented Dec. 7, 13 and 14 at the 1604 Campus Kiva.
Silantien, together with Dee Mitchell, archivist at Lackland AFB, researched how San Antonio scenes would have looked during that time. The decor of the Kiva will include photos of a holiday dance at the old Gunter Hotel, pinup girls and soldiers in uniform performing in a jazz band. In addition, dances of the period such as the Carioca will be featured.
Tickets, including a catered dinner, are $40 and $50. For more information or ticket reservations, call the Department of Music at (210) 458-4355.
