New Honors College lauds first graduates in ceremony
(Dec. 17, 2002)--UTSA's new Honors College feted its first group of graduates in a Dec. 13 ceremony featuring graduates and faculty in academic regalia. Honors College Dean Richard Diem was master of ceremonies with Richard Gambitta, chair of the Department of Political Science and Geography and director of the Institute for Law and Public Policy, as keynote speaker.
Following Gambitta's speech, each graduate was introduced and faculty mentors placed Honors stoles over the graduates' regalia. The stoles, made of orange velvet with a royal blue border and embroidered with the words "UTSA Honors College," were also worn Dec. 14 at commencement ceremonies in the Convocation Center.
Pictured above are the graduates with Associate Dean Ann Eisenberg (lower left) and Diem (lower right).
