Repairs to JPL Assembly Room to begin immediately

(Dec. 5, 2002)--Following air quality testing of room 4.03.08 in the John Peace Library Building at the University of Texas at San Antonio, university officials announced today that use of the room will be discontinued while repairs and remediation are completed to areas damaged by leaks during recent heavy rains.

Isolation of the room has begun immediately, according to David Gabler, assistant vice president for university communications. "Supply air to the room has been shut off and the return air grills have been sealed," he said. "The room will remain closed throughout the remediation, which should last approximately 45 days."

Furthermore, an air scrubbing machine has been installed in the room to filter air in the area.

The university is working with campus groups that have reserved the room to find other locations at the 1604 Campus for their events. Individuals who have reserved the room should call Diane Ruse at (210) 458-4725. Individuals with questions about the remediation should call Victoria Jacques at (210) 458-4261.
