City, UTSA sponsor 'Livable Cities' lectures

(Feb. 27, 2002)--The City of San Antonio, the University of Texas at San Antonio and the American Planning Association, San Antonio Section will co-sponsor a series of public lectures addressing the physical elements of livable cities. Allan Jacobs, author of "Great Streets" and "The Boulevard Book" will speak about streets at 5:30 p.m. March 12 in the Frio Street Building Riklin Auditorium at the UTSA Downtown Campus.

Historian Lawrence Gerckens of the National Institute of Certified Planners will talk about master planning for cities at 5:30 p.m. March 26, in the Buena Vista Street Building Theater at the UTSA Downtown Campus.

A third lecture, on neighborhoods, originally scheduled to open the series on Feb. 26, has been postponed. The presentations, part of the Mayor's Forum Lecture Series, are free and open to all. Each will begin with a reception 30 minutes before the presentation. For more information, call (210) 207-8978.
