Fifteen UTSA staffers are newly trained conflict mediators

(Feb. 7, 2002)--Fifteen new members of the Tri-Campus community have joined the ranks of 50 other trained mediators who assist the UTSA Problem Solving/Conflict Resolution (PS/CR) office as problem solvers and co-mediators. The group includes faculty and staff university liaisons and third-party neutrals.

Mediation is a formal process of dispute resolution that provides facilitated communication between two people in conflict. The PS/CR office offers mediation as an option to students, staff, faculty and administrators who are experiencing interpersonal conflict.

"Our university liaison mediators fill an important role, and we congratulate them on their commitment to serving the Tri-Campus community," said Gloria F. Rodriguez, director of the PS/CR office.

The new members are: Sara Abrami, student development specialist in the Enrollment Services Center; Gail E. Carbajal, compliance officer in Student Financial Aid; Susan Colorado, assistant director for student organizations in Student Leadership and Cultural Programs; Thomas Coyle, assistant professor of psychology; Patricia "Patty" Dunn, educational specialist in the Education and Technology Initiative office; Lyssa Garza, projects manager in K-16 Initiatives and Honors Program; Vic Heller, associate professor of marketing; Misty Kelley, program adviser for Leadership and Greek Life in Student Leadership and Cultural Programs; Elnora Kennedy, development officer in Development, Michelle Montanio, assistant director of Student Leadership and Cultural Programs; Sandra Noyes, training coordinator in Human Resources Training and Development; John Poindexter, assistant director of multimedia imaging in University Communications; Nestor Reyes, program coordinator in Disability Services; Sharis Smith, program coordinator for volunteer services in Student Leadership and Cultural Programs; and Ann Margaret Trujillo, assistant director for multicultural programs in Student Leadership and Cultural Programs.
