the Golf Cart Parade allows campus organizations to show
off their Rowdy Spirit campus-wide.

UTSA Homecoming takes off with Rowdy Spirit

(Feb. 8, 2002)--UTSA prepares to welcome back alumni and show off Roadrunner Spirit with Homecoming Week, Feb. 8 through Feb.15.

To help you show your Roadrunner Spirit, Orange Crush T-shirts are available for $7 at the Downtown Campus bookstore; on the 1604 Campus at the University Center bookstore and the Office of the President; and at the Institute of Texan Cultures gift shop.

Festivities kick off with a bulletin board decorating contest sponsored by the Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils as well as announcing the finalists for 2002-2003 Mr. and Ms. UTSA. This year's theme, "Rowdy Spirit, Is It in You? " encourages all faculty, students and staff to decorate office doors, attend events and show off their blue and orange wardrobes.

UTSA's Homecoming game versus Southwest Texas State will feature the rivalry between the men's basketball teams at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. in the 1604 Campus Convocation Center. Tickets are available by calling 458-UTSA.

February 8

Bulletin Board Decorating Contest - 2 p.m., Humanities and Social Sciences Building, 1604 Campus

Sponsored by the Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils, the event is open to registered student organizations that have bulletin boards in HSS. First place winners will receive an award of $100 and second place will receive $50.

February 9

Shuttling the Spirit - 1-4 p.m., Lot 5, 1604 Campus

Join VOICES in decorating the UTSA shuttles. No experience or supplies needed!

February 10

UTSA v. Northwestern - 3 p.m., Convocation Center

Come cheer on the roadrunners and find out who the finalists will be for Mr. and Ms. UTSA during half-time!

February 11

Window Wars Begin - 1-5 p.m., Convocation Center

Registered student organizations will have the opportunity to decorate a window of their choice at the Convocation Center on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications are available at the SLCP office, University Center Room 1.01.08, and due by Feb. 8. Judging will take place Feb. 15, 9 a.m.

Sombreros Under the Sombrilla - 12-1 p.m., Sombrilla, 1604 Campus

The Student Alumni Association invites the San Antonio community to decorate sombreros. All supplies and sombreros will be provided.

February 12

Golf Cart Decorating - 6 p.m., Sombrilla, 1604 Campus

The Student Government Association will sponsor the annual golf cart-decorating contest. Applications are available in the SLCP office, University Center Room 1.02.08.

Where's Rowdy? Scavenger Hunt -12 p.m., Sombrilla, 1604 Campus

The Student Alumni Association will send you and your friends on a whirlwind scavenger hunt to find the San Antonio style pot of gold …tickets to the Alan Jackson concert at the rodeo.

February 13

Golf Cart Parade - 12-1 p.m., Sombrilla, 1604 Campus

3rd Annual Talent Show - 7-9 p.m., University Center Retama Room, sponsored by Campus Activities Board (CAB)

Come see your fellow roadrunners show off their talent! Admission is free.

February 14

No Glove, No Love - 11 a.m. -1 p.m., Sombrilla, 1604 Campus

The Awareness Committee of CAB will host this event as part of National Condom Day to inform students about using condoms correctly. Free condoms will be available. CAB will also provide information on safer sex and abstinence.

February 15

Spirit Day - Wear your orange and blue!

Window Wars End Judging – 9 a.m., Convocation Center
Winners will be announced at 12 p.m.

February 16

Tail Gate Party – 5 p.m., Convocation Center

Stop by for free food and music open to the public

UTSA v. Southwest Texas State University Homecoming Game – 7 p.m., Convocation Center
(Mr. and Ms. UTSA and Super Spirit Spectacular winners will be announced during halftime.)
