Local students invited to college preparation workshops

(Feb. 5, 2002)--Free workshops to help local middle and high school students learn about ways to pay for college will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 at the UTSA Downtown Campus on the first floor of the Durango Building. Registration will be 9-9:30 a.m., and workshops will be 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Sponsored by the Alamo Area Student Intervention Alliance, the workshops will address the cost of college and how to apply for financial aid and scholarships. Staff will be available to answer questions in English or Spanish.

Students will be able to use "MERV, The Campus Cruiser" mobile information van to research scholarship availability. Students will also have an opportunity to complete and transmit on-site the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students planning to complete the FAFSA will need to bring a copy of their and their parents’ 2001 Federal Income Tax Return.

For more information, call the UTSA Office of K-16 Initiatives at (210) 458-2752.
