International educator conference slated for San Antonio
(Jan. 16, 2002)--The National Association for International Educators 2002 national conference will be held May 26-31 at the San Antonio Convention Center Arena. UTSA's Assistant Director of International Programs Sylvia Medel, who has just been named to a two-year term as the group's South Texas representative, is co-chairing the volunteer committee for the conference, which is expected to draw over 5,000 international participants.
Medel is encouraging members of the Tri-Campus community to show their UTSA
pride and spirit by helping out. Volunteers are needed for the registration
table, hospitality table, message center, media table, special events and
publicity.
In exchange for their efforts, volunteers can attend conference sessions free
of charge in ratio to the number of hours worked.
Volunteers who work 1-19 hours pay full registration fee; those who work 20-39 hours pay half of the fee and those who work 40 or more hours will receive a full waiver of the conference registration fee.
To request or pick up a volunteer interest form, contact the international programs office in University Center Room 1.04.02, by phone at (210) 458-7202 or fax at (210) 458-7222.
