UTSA-produced video to air Jan. 20 on local PBS station
(Jan. 16, 2002)--The Center for Distance Learning & Academic Technology has produced a video report entitled "The Future of Texas: Higher Education and the Economy" that will air at 5:30 p.m., Sunday Jan. 20 on KLRN-TV, the San Antonio PBS affiliate.
The half-hour program explores the changing economy of Texas and the role of higher education in preparing an educated work force for the future. Featured in the program are comments from local leaders including UT System Regent Cyndi Taylor Krier, State Sen. Leticia Van de Putte and UTSA President Ricardo Romo.
The video and the new UTSA video conference course "Introduction to College" are both part of a grant project funded by the Texas Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund Board. The course is designed to connect 10 area middle and high schools to the UTSA video conference network and offer information to participating students and parents on attending college and achieving success in higher education.
