Romo establishes committee on advancement of women

(Jan. 11, 2002)--UTSA President Ricardo Romo has established the first University Standing Committee on the Advancement of Women. The committee was formed to study the advancement of women, faculty and staff and to enhance the professional opportunities available to women on UTSA's tri-campuses.

The chair of the committee is Sonia Saldivar-Hull, Department of English, Classics and Philosophy. Committee members are Brenda J. Claiborne, Department of Biology; Juanita M. Firestone, Department of Sociology; Misty Heath, Office of New Student Programs; Rosalind Horowitz, Department of Interdisciplinary Studies and Curriculum and Instruction; Cheryl B. Schrader, College of Engineering and Diane B. Walz, Office of Information Systems.

A questionnaire will be distributed to all faculty during spring 2002 to gather information about the issues and environment that affect the professional development and advancement of women.
