Volunteer building captains and safety coordinators needed

(July 29, 2002)--UTSA's Office of Emergency Preparedness is seeking individuals who would like to volunteer to serve as building captains or safety coordinators for the 1604 Campus. A building captain is needed for each of the 1604 Campus buildings.

Ideally, the building captain's office would be located on the top floor of the building. Also, building safety coordinators are needed for each floor of each building. The volunteer's office telephone numbers will be programmed into the UTSA Emergency Telephone Notification System.

In the event of an emergency situation, the building captain and safety coordinators for a specific building would be notified to begin the evacuation. Building captains and safety coordinators will receive evacuation training fromthe UTSA fire and safety coordinator and the Office of Emergency Preparedness.

To volunteer, e-mail Bill Hamilton or Minnie Martinez.
